-- Indigo Books & Music Inc. partners with Meetup.com --
TORONTO, Oct. 12 - Indigo Books & Music Inc. is pleased to announce
that it has become the premier Canadian destination for Meetup.com, the Web
site that makes it easy for people with shared interests to organize local
gatherings. By striking this partnership and facilitating the growth of
Meetup.com in Canada, Indigo deepens its commitment to inspire, inform and
entertain its customers.
Meetup.com is a free 'for the people, by the people' service enabling
individuals to start local groups and get together face-to-face to discuss the
topics of interest to them. From politics and acting to photography and yoga,
more than 50,000 Canadians are already meeting this way and are now choosing
to meet at Indigo and Chapters.
"We are thrilled to be the premier destination for Meetup Groups in
Canada," says Jonathan Ehrlich, Vice President Online, Indigo Books & Music
Inc. "Indigo is committed to building stronger communities, and partnering
with Meetup.com helps achieve this. If we can offer a forum for people to
unite interests and passions, and share ideas and experiences in an
environment they are familiar with and trust - it can only strengthen our bond
with the community."
The partnership between Indigo and Meetup.com marries the best of the
retail world with the communications and community benefits of the Internet.
This convergence illustrates Indigo's continued commitment to providing
consumers with a lifestyle and cultural destination, both online and in-store
that encourages them to share their interests and bring them to life.
"Thanks to Indigo, more Canadians will be a part of local community
Meetup Groups," says Scott Heiferman, Co-Founder & CEO, Meetup.com. "We're
thrilled to partner with Indigo. Meetup.com makes it easy for people to find
or start a local Meetup Group about most any cause or topic, and Indigo stores
are great places for Meetups in Canada."
