From Iraq to Birmingham

Captain Frank Myers is a Birmingham resident who recently shipped to Iraq. While serving in Iraq, Captain Myers started a weblog called Citizen Frank. Using his weblog, Captain Myers invited his readers to join the local Army Meetup Group in Birmingham organized by Army Chaplain Candidate Fr. Daniel Sparks.

In addition to spreading the word about the event, Capt. Myers took donations through his website from people all across the country to help pay for the event. Enough money was raised that Capt. Myers was able to donate money to the local VFW after paying for the party.

Well this past Sunday, the Meetup took place at the local Krispy Kreme, and everyone seemed to have a great time. The story was covered in the Birmingham News and on local tv, and Captain Myers has called Meetup Like a Little Internet Miracle.
