Rat Lovers Unite? Cute.
Yep. Meetups about anything, everywhere. That's what it's all about.
Here's a slice of life from the New West Network, from high up the Rocky Mountains where Meetups are certainly taking hold. Rats or no rats.
Rat Lovers Unite!
Meetup.com has been around since the boom, but they've grown lately and added new features. On the Meetup site, you type in the name of your city and get a list of all the 'meetups' in town. There are Meetups in Denver, Boulder, Salt Lake City, Missoula, Billings and zillion of other places. You can decide to pop in on a Rat Lovers meetup (they've got one in Boulder, but I haven't made it to that event yet) or any other gathering that strikes your fancy. Or, you can create a Meetup of your own and gather together some people who like the same things you do. Regular Meetup users don't pay - you pay for the privilege of convening a Meetup gathering. So if you're the kind of networker who likes to set things up and orchestrate them, you'll need to fork over the $12/month subscription. If you're happy to browse events that other people have set up, and show up at them sometimes, you can ride for free. . . Meetup has something for everyone - and it's a great way to find out who everyone, in your particular specialized-interest universe, is. . . Meetup is a great way to create your own networking community for people who share your love of, say, model trains, German opera, or antique farm equipment. Link
